Happy New Year to all! Welcome to my World of Soaps. I am so excited to start my new blog on Soap Operas.

I have been watching Soaps for over 40 years! My first introduction to them was when my Granny would be staying with us and she had to watch As The World Turns and The Edge of Night. Needless to say, they were very intriguing. However, I was only about eight at the time and Granny didn’t live with us full-time. My mom never got into the soaps so when Granny was off staying with another family member, I basically didn’t pay that much attention.

Fast forward to about 1965. My older sister, Janet, was staying with us while her husband was serving as a Marine in Viet Nam. Janet was pregnant with her first child and she loved her soaps. I once again was intrigued with the drama and was hooked. Our favorite was Another World, with the Steven, Rachael, and Russ triangle. Oh what wonderful memories.

Unfortunately, AW is no longer on the air and I do miss it terribly. When we purchased our HDTV we were able to get an upgrade with our Cable company and now how DVR and expanded services. I was SO excited that we had SoapNet and they were rerunning Another World. After about 6 months SoapNet decided to cancel the show, much to my chagrin.

I have watched many soaps that have come and gone in My World of Soaps and have been thrilled when some of the actors have become really big stars. For example;  Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Alec Baldwin, Ellen Burstyn, Kathleen Turner, and Gil Gerard, just to name a few.

I currently watch Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, Bold and Beautiful and Guiding Light.

In the upcoming days and months (and hopefully longer), I will give my opinions on these shows along with actors that have made it big from soaps along with big actors that have been a movie main stay and are now appearing on soaps.

Until next time!
