Hunter Tylo on B&B

Hunter Tylo portrays Dr. Taylor Hayes Forrester Marone on The Bold & Beautiful. In October, 2007 she suffered a major loss when her 19 year old son, Michael Tylo, Jr (Mickey) drowned in the family pool in their Henderson, NV home.
I remember how my heart went out to her. As a parent of a 36-year-old son, I knew how I would have felt if it had happened to me, I’d be absolutely devastated. How Hunter carried on is beyond me, but she did.
At the time Hunter’s storyline was hot and heavy. She was pregnant with Baby Jack. It was in vitro pregnancy and once he was born it was revealed that the actual egg came from her nemesis, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), there was a mix-up at the fertility clinic.
I wondered how the show would deal with this. I do know that most Soaps tape 3-6 weeks in advance, so those shows were already “in the can” when young Mickey passed. I could only imagine how the writers would have to rewrite episodes in order to have Hunter the time she needed to grieve. Hunter Tylo is the epitome of an actor. Due to her storyline and needing to get on with her life, she only took a couple of weeks off. What a trouper! Oh, how I admired her.
Now, a little over a year later, Hunter has to deal with her onscreen daughters’, Phoebe, death in a a car accident! I’m sure that she drew from her own experience to portray the emotions of Taylor on air.
My hat’s off to Hunter Tylo. I don’t know if I could have done it.
