DOOL: Sydney in distress; Phillip stalls Melanie; Lucas & Chloe set a wedding date

Tuesday 2/1; Nicole tells E.J. that Sydney’s problem is all her fault. She’s about to confess when Lexie comes in and says that Sydney is going to be fine, but they have to run some tests. Lexie knows the DiMeras’ history but needs to know more about Nicole’s medical history. Lexie is concerned about SIDS, and E.J. mentions that Sami was worried about that with the twins, for some reason. Nicole starts to faint, and E.J. gets her some water when Stefano comes storming in and demands to know what Nicole has done to his granddaughter. E.J. warns Stefano to leave Nicole alone and that it’s not her fault; these things happen. Lexie comes back and says they identified the problem and everything will be fine. As E.J. and Nicole go to see Sydney, Stefano tells Lexie that there’s something nefarious about “that woman,” and he’s going to find out what it is. Lexie blasts him and Stefano says maybe he overreacted. E.J. and Nicole take the baby home.
Phillip goes to see Malanie and tells her that he and Stephanie broke up over her. Melanie just goes on and on about that! Phillip tells her if she takes her patents to the DiMeras, she’ll lose everything she wants: HIM. Phillip then asks why she isn’t meeting with the DiMeras right now. She says maybe it’s a done deal. Phillip doesn’t think that the deal is done. There is a knock on the door, and Melanie is served with an injunction to keep the patent at Titan. She is more than ticked that he fooled and stalled her.
Chloe meets with Lucas and Kate, and they tell Chloe that they think Valentine’s Day would be perfect for the wedding date. Victor comes in and says, “‘The week after never’ would be too soon.” Chloe agrees to Valentine’s Day, and Victor tells Kate that it will never happen.
They all go to Chez Rouge for the hospital fundraiser. Kate sees Maggie and tells her about the wedding date and asks her to oversee the reception. Maggie declines, saying it’s her anniversary. As Chloe and Lucas dance, Chloe stiffens when Victor and Daniel come in.
At the fundraiser, Kate gives a wonderful speech exalting Daniel and Chloe, and asks for donations to the hospital. Maggie gets the silent auction underway. Stefano arrives and starts hitting on Kate. Maggie is announcing the donations and says there is a check for $100,000 anonymously donated in Kate’s name. (Stefano has a smug look on his face.) Lucas donates a thousand dollars to have Chloe sing. Victor tells Daniel that he’d donate TEN thousand to have her NOT sing. Daniel tells him to lay off Chloe, Victor asks if there is something going on between him and Chloe and then proceeds to tell him that Chloe and Lucas have set a wedding date. Daniel blanches. Chloe serenades Lucas.
After E.J. and Nicole get Sydney settled, E.J. receives a phone call from Melanie. She doesn’t want to hear any more excuses and wants to meet him NOW. After E.J. leaves, Dr. Baker arrives to see Nicole.
Melanie wants the DiMeras to eliminate Phillip.
