It’s been speculated on the message boards as to why two DNA testes proved that there is no biological connection between Katherine and Jill. This week, it’s confirmed that it’s because the two ladies are not mother and daughter after all!

Brock, Katherine’s son, returns, and when Nikki takes him to see Kay at Murphy’s trailer, he instantly realizes that his mother is alive.

Kay recounts her memory problems to Brock; he suggests that she be tested for Lyme’s disease. Katherine sees her doctor and it is confirmed that she does indeed have the disease. Then Brock and Katherine’s DNA results come back, proving she is Katherine Chancellor.

Once Jill realizes that she is not Katherine’s daughter, I am sure she will return to her selfish, bitterly scathing self.

So who is the daughter that Katerine gave up all those years ago? Could it be Nikki, who Katherine has always treated as a daughter? Perhaps it could be Esther! That way, Chloe would be Kay’s granddaughter and Cordelia her great-granddaughter. Other thoughts have been that Amber is Katherine’s granddaughter. I’m sure the writers haven’t figured it out yet, but it sure will be fun to watch!

I stopped watching Y&R 2-3 years ago when the writing changes, the director changed, and the storyline got ridiculous. The scene where Katherine finds out she’s Jill’s mother was a highlight of the show, and for the writers to turn that upside down is as trashy as bringing Gloria’s twin husband to town, never mind a double for Katherine (which could have been a poignant story about Alzheimer’s). Someone please fire the head writers and bring back the glory days of good writing, directing, and producing!
