#GL Spoiler: Phillip confesses that he's dying

Phillip and James have yet another fight, and James takes off in his car. Phillip goes running after him, but his body gives out and he collapses to the ground. When he can’t get up, he calls Lillian for help.
Realizing that his time could be coming to an end sooner than he thought, Phillip makes a tough decision. He pulls Beth aside to break the sad news. He tells her first so she will be prepared to help with the kids. Phillip calls everyone to the conference room at Cedars and tells them. There is a lot of shock and sadness; however, Alan already knows.
Lizzie breaks down in tears, and James storms out. Alan is so overwhelmed that he can’t bear to stay in the same room with the rest of them. Beth advises Phillip to seek hospice care at Cedars, but Phillip wants to die at home. (Hellooooo!!! You can have excellent hospice care in your own home—we had it for my mother, and they were wonderful!)
Ed informs everyone there is no cure and keeps mum about the radical transplant that could potentially save Phillip’s life. While Phillip knows there is a procedure, it’s too risky and he opts not to have it. However, James later rifles through Phillip’s medical records and angrily confronts Ed as to what he’s discovered.
