The loss of a fur-friend

Handsome

A few days ago I lost one of my cats, Handsome. My cousin, LaVonne, encouraged me to write about it on the blog so ya’ll could learn a little more about me. It’s taken me a few days to write this as I miss him terribly.

When Larry and I lived in California we took in stray cats that had been abused. Handsome and his twin, Swee-Pea, were two of them  – along with Pscyho, Cutie Pie, Princess U-turn, Roxie, and Bootsie. When we moved from California to Texas, we brought them all along with us, not wanting to leave them behind.

Roxie had a stroke about three years ago, and Bootsie left us last year. Two days ago, Handsome went to the kitty-heaven and I have been very sad. His twin, Swee-Pea, has been quite despondent as they were extremely close,  but thankfully is getting better.

Since moving to Texas, we think there must be a sign on our front yard that says “Hey, stray cats come on, we’ll feed you!” In addition to our inside cats that came from CA, we have front porch kitties and back porch kitties that we feed and nurture. There are six kittens, now full grown, that we have brought into the house during inclement weather and I wouldn’t give them up for the world. We have Domino, Gabby, Midnight, Buttons, and the youngest are Mork and Mindy.

We buried Handsome in our backyard, along-side of Bootsie and Roxie, and placed flowers on his grave. Thank you for letting me share this trying time with you.
