Last Christmas, we were treated to Michael experiencing what life would have been in Genoa City, if he hadn’t been born. Christian LeBlanc’s stand-alone episode earned him a Best Actor Daytime Emmy.

This year, Billy Miller, Billy, stars in his own stand-alone episode on New Year’s Eve, when his playboy alter ego takes a look at his sorry state of life and where it’s headed. Billy takes a trip into the future with his late father, John, as his guide.

After getting smashed at Jimmy’s bar, a miserable and lonely Billy stumbles into the snow at the stroke of midnight, and falls on his keister. The world changes into this hyper-realistic Genoa City. John takes Billy on a tour of his not-so-happy future, starting at Restless Style. There are awards everywhere, which thrills Billy at first, but they are for advertising dollars, not journalistic integrity.

They then make a stop seven years later, at the Chancellor mansion. Chloe and the rest of the family are celebrating Delia’s dance recital. Chance is there, but not Billy. At the Abbott mansion, the whole family is celebrating New Year’s Eve, sans Billy.

They then head to Delia’s wedding, 18 years in the future, and Billy is again absent. Delia is without her father; it bothers her quite a bit, and of course, Billy is distraught about not being at his daughter’s wedding.

Billy doesn’t know who he’s become in the future and is now starting to worry and be ashamed. It’s then that Billy breaks down and asks John to help him. But is Genoa City’s philandering playboy really ready to embark on a new path, let alone the straight and narrow one?

Will this performance earn Miller a coveted Daytime Emmy?
