When Sandy, Nick and Lt. Baker go downtown to the facility housing Sandy’s rape kit, they are horrified by what the find. Her rape kit, along with her torn blouse, has been sitting in cold storage, unprocessed, for five years. Hundreds, if not thousands, of other women’s kits have sat in cold storage because they didn’t have enough ‘hard’ evidence to convict, plus due to budget cuts the city wasn’t able to process the rape-kits. Apparently, it costs about $1,500 to do a single woman’s entire rape kit workup, DNA, and everything involved.
After this is discovered, they go back to Nick’s office. Lt. Baker and Nick are very supportive of Sandy and saying, “At least we’re on the right track. We’re going to figure this out together.”
I really appreciate B&B doing this storyline, it’s going to make people, especially women, face things that are happening. This is really torn from the headlines, based on real things that are happening in the country. State by state, city by city this is actually happening!. We need to talk about this and hopefully it will spark changes. In this digital age, this story will bring about something good.

I was wondering if everything done there was for rape victims. That is just apalling.
