Breaking News from Soap Opera Digest - It’s the end of an era for DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Veteran actress and beloved matriarch of the Horton clan, Frances Reid (Alice), passed away on Feb. 3 at the age of 95. Reid, who also appeared on AS THE WORLD TURNS and THE EDGE OF NIGHT early in her soap career, last aired on DAYS in Dec. 2007.
I’ve been missing Grandma Alice for quite some time, but was pleased that they mentioned her during Christmas and the passing of Mickey Horton.

Frances was one of the original cast members. Such a shame. I’ll miss her. She’s forever linked with donuts much like Dean is tied to pie and pudding.

Frances has been on the show since Days debuted in November 1965. Yes, she will be surely missed, along with her infamous donuts
