#DOOL Spoiler: Daniel’s a daddy

Melanie wakes up in the hospital to find Carly, the woman who shot her, and Melanie freaks out. Daniel comes in and assures the teen that Carly won’t hurt her. Melanie keeps asking her questions and more or less pushes Carly into a corner. Carly finally blurts out that she’s there because she’s Melanie’s mother.
Of course, Melanie doesn’t believe her. Carly gets into the whole story – the last moment she saw Melanie: Lawrence was taking her away but she remember a birthmark that Melanie had. Melanie finally believes her and learns the ugly truth about Lawrence. Melanie feels that she was essentially the cause of his death and Vivian’s vendetta against her. Melanie then tells Carly, “I can’t believe you would be someone like Trent.” Carly tells her that Trent wasn’t her biological father – he adopted her. However, she won’t tell Melanie who the biological father is.
Later, at the pier, Carly and Daniel talk. She reminds him of the medical conference there were at – several years ago – and that after having several drinks, they ended up sleeping together. She felt guilty and never told him that their tryst resulted in a pregnancy. Melanie is his daughter.
Daniel’s initial reaction is disbelief. He quickly goes back through his own personal history to their relationship and connects the dots. He is heartbroken and helpless – and then becomes completely enraged with Carly for not telling him.
For Daniel, it’s too much at once: he is also dealing with the fact that Chloe has a hysterical pregnancy. Daniel heads to Melanie’s room, which is a good thing, considering Vivian has just arrived at the hospital to finish what she started on the roof…
