When ABC cancelled two of their Soaps, All My Children and One Life to Win, soap fans started campaigning to save the genre. Both show have been on the air for over 40 years. Granted when CBS cancelled Guiding Light and As the World Turns, both on air 50 plus years, the fans were visibly upset, but not to this extent. Of course, they were cancelled two years apart – not on the same day in April, 2011. Plus from all indications, it looks like General Hospital will also be cancelled. This is just conjecture, there is nothing concrete about this so please don’t say that I said it for sure. That’s how vicious rumors get started.

Soap fans everywhere have united and are demanding that the cancelled shows get a reprieve, possibly on CBS or NBC, or get thecable-television companies to support a new soap cable channel to replace the soon to depart SoapNet. In order to do this a new coupon campaign has been started. These coupons are easy to fill out. You provide your Cable Company or Sattelite’s name, fill out
your name and address, clip it and mail it to the post office box included on the coupon. Pretty easy isn’t it? Your voice WILL be heard! Fill out and send ONE coupon per household members.

Where can you obtain your coupons? This weeks Globe magazine on sale NOW. They will also be available in the next issues of CBS Soaps In Depth and ABC Soaps in Depth. Or you can go to Sudz.tv on the Internet.

Surprise, surprise – Liam is not the daddy of Amber’s baby, but neither is Oliver! Several weeks ago I figured that Marcus was the daddy. Why did I assume this? After all, we never saw the friends with benefits actually happen. However, when Amber first told Marcus that she was preggers, and assumed that Oliver was the father, they showed flashbacks of Amber and Marcus doing the dirty deed. It didn’t take me long to figure out where this storyline was going!

Of course Tawny got her $$$ eyes into it and had the paternity tests
altered to show that Liam was the dad. Amber was sure that Oliver
was the dad, until Marcus recently reminded her that they had sex
in the same timeline. Amber was frantic to learn the truth when she went into labor. Liam cut short his vacation with Hope and was there for the delivery. What a shock when a chocolate baby girl arrived!

Marcus was stunned at being a dad, Donna was even more stunned that she was a grandmother! On the bright side, Amber and Marcus bonded with their daughter, Rosie, and agree to raise her together as friends. Amber is delighted to be a mom and I can see a change in Amber – I can see her becoming a more gentler, kinder person who wants to do the best for her daughter.

I can hope can’t I?

Last night, June 19th, the 38th annual Daytime Emmys were held in Las Vegas. To say it was a disaster would be a huge understatement. I’m glad I writing this today, instead of last night, as I wouldn’t have been as kind. The Daytime Emmys used to be held exclusively in New York City, of course that’s where the majority of the Soap Operas were produced. Some years back they were alternated between Los Angeles and NYC and now for the 2nd year in a row they are in Las Vegas. Yes, it gives the stars a new playground to go to, but why were they held on Father’s Day and opposite the popular Miss USA Pageant?? From the very beginning it was a travelogue for Las Vegas, including commercials, and that got old really fast. Don’t forget the showgirls, Marie Osmond and the 15-20 minute tribute to Oprah! Speaking of Oprah, they created a new special Emmy for her, supposedly the first annual, had this way too long tribute to her and guess what? She couldn’t even attend the awards to accept, but had a ‘nice’ taped acceptance speech.

There was no televised Red Carpet coverage! Normally SoapNet televises awesome coverage, oh yeah, they are owned by ABC/D and have been cancelled in 2012. Couldn’t CBS do the awards from 9-11 EDT and do Red Carpet from 8-9? Now THAT would have been a coup. Due to all of the Vegas promos and so much time for Oprah, there was no time to show the clips of the nominees. That was a travesty as many fans were upset by who did win and who they thought should win. However, if we had seen the clips, we might have been able to understand it better. On Twitter @SoapsInDepthCBS stated several times that they had seen the clips and COULD understand why some won. It was all about the clips that the stars, or shows, had sent in. Having the right clips for the judges to view makes a huge difference.

There was little mention of AMC or OLTL being cancelled much less a tribute to them. Okay, I hear the argument – they are technically still on the air until September and January. However, shouldn’t there at least been a tribute to ATWT? After all, Julie Pinson was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress, Colleen Zenk for Outstanding Lead Actress and Michael Park WON for Outstanding Lead Actor (he was performing on Broadway and couldn’t be present). Surely, some kind of tribute should have been done.

On the upside Tracey E. Bregman introduced that Jabot Cosmetics was going public, and I don’t mean stock wise LOL. Jabot has been a storyline on Young and Restless for about 20 years and it’s nice to see that the viewers can now purchase their own line of Jabot Cosmetics, in fact I purchased my Red Carpet Collection last night. ShopJabot. They had several short interviews with Tracey and some commercials. Also, the spot on Children’s Miracle Network, featuring several of our Soap Opera stars was excellent. Wayne Brady introduced Susan Lucci, as Erica Cane, having been married 8 times – big gaff. Enter Shemar Moore (YEAH), ex-Malcolm on Y&R who quickly corrected that and said 11 weddings. They did a tribute to all of Erica’s weddings and spoofed her getting married to Regis and Ellen, it was humorous but they couldn’t do something for the incredible Erica Slezak?

Did you know that the ratings were down 27% last night? That should tell TPTB something and why I called it a disaster!

Enough of my ranting now, I do want to congratulate all of the winners especially B&B for being Best Drama for the 3rd year in a row. it is now time for the fan base to unite and stick by our remaining soaps. Keep tuned in for more information and SEND IN YOUR COUPONS!

For the last week, or so, I have been numb and just didn’t know what to say. So I thank you for your patience and allowing me to say all that I have to say now.

I, as others, had heard the rumors that either All My Children or One Life To Live were going to be cancelled. I sighed and prayed it was just a malicious rumor. First of all, I thought, they wouldn’t cancel AMC. ABC had recently spent an enormous amount of money relocating AMC from New to a spectacular new studio in Los Angeles. Now the rumor regarding OLTL was a little more feasible. I had noticed they had been falling in ratings, however, it didn’t make sense seeing that they  had been gaining in the ratings race.

Then on April 14th the bomb dropped. BOTH AMC and OLTL had been cancelled. I couldn’t believe it! Granted, as my readers know, I don’t currently follow those shows but I have in the past. In fact, about 25 years ago I was fortunate enough to be on the OLTL set and was honored to meet Erica Slezak, the late Asa Carey, Robert S. Woods, to name a few – in fact, Imogene Coca was playing a cleaning lady on that episode. I watched AMC at the beginning with Erica and Phil and of course there was GH with the Luke and Laura HUGE story. However, times pass and due to different circumstances I was back to watching shows from my childhood and a few new ones. Sorry, I guess I’m regressing and need to get back on the subject.

AMC, after 41 years, will be gone in September of this year and OLTL in January 2012. What are these shows being replaced with? A show focused on food called The Chew and The Revolution focused on health. Do we not have enough of those shows now? We have a full network called the FOOD Network that deals with food, plus Rachael Ray. As far as health issues we have Dr. Oz and The Doctors and I’m sure there is a health network out there with all of the cable stations.

What really ticks me off is the unemployment of not only the actors, but all of the crew and the Soap Magazines! Plus, what about all of the actors that had lived in the NYC area, probably all of their lives, uprooted and moved their families to the West Coast – that’s despicable.

In the last 2 years CBS has lost two of the longest running Soaps – Guiding Light and As The World Turns. I used to watch both of those shows with my Grandmother and watched GL till the very end. Oh yes, there were times that the story-lines were just too ridiculous for me to continue watching – but I always came back. I think we have all done that from time to time and don’t even tell me that you haven’t, LOL.

When GL and ATWT were cancelled the fans gathered around trying to save their shows. It didn’t work. The fans of AMC and OLTL are attempting the same thing, however, I don’t think it will work for them either.  So what can we do to keep our shows on the air?

Come 2012 there will only be 4 Soaps left for us. General Hospital on ABC, Days of Our Lives on NBC and Bold and Beautiful and Young and Restless on CBS. Do you care about these shows? Then stand up and make sure you watch, go to their sites and message boards and talk about the show(s) – both the good and the bad regarding story-lines, the powers that be DO listen, believe it or not. Be loyal to the sponsors that are on YOUR Soaps – purchase their products, write to them and thank them. Write to the show and let them know your loyalty. Attend Soap events – contact your favorite stars (just don’t stalk them LOL). Every little thing will help.

We need to do what we can to save our remaining shows. If we don’t we will have a daytime full of reality shows, talk shows, game shows, food shows, yada yada yada. Also support the Soaps Web Series: The Bay; Steamboat; and Venice just to name a few. And for all of you Another World lovers check out www.anotherworldtoday.com.

Between Dr. Taylor Hayes and her daughter, Steffi Forrester, the Logan gals need to be on their toes.

First, we have Taylor constantly going after Brooke and telling her, and Ridge and anyone who will listen, what a bad influence she (Brooke) is on Taylor and Ridges son, Thomas, is. Taylor is constantly going on about this and how Brooke has bedded all Forrester men. Does she not remember she has done the same thing? Good grief, Taylor once bedded Brooke’s son, Rick, and was engaged to him. Taylor also ran down Thorne’s wife when she was drunk.

Second we have Taylor and Ridges daughter, Steffi, who is a bitch on wheels. Steffi is a beautiful, intelligent woman who could, easily, get any man she wanted. However, she goes after guys that are already taken. Her half-sister, Hope, was involved with Oliver and  Steffi decided to put the moves on him. When Hope and Oliver broke up and Hope got involved with Liam – oh, guess who went
after Liam? Steffi!!!!

Now that Steffi is back from Forrester International she is going after Bill Spencer, who just happens to be married to Brooke’s sister. Katie. Granted, Steffi and Bill have fantabulous chemistry, but give me a break can she not go after someone who isn’t already attached?? Thankfully, Bill loves Katie and is doing his best to keep Steffi at arms length, even though she comes on to him half-naked and tells him she loves him.

Third, Katie and Bill are having are having marital problems, thanks to Steffi and Bill’s temper. Katie wants Bill go to a shrink because of his anger management issues. Unfortunately, who does Katie seek for help? Taylor!!!! Do we really think that Taylor can be objective when it comes to a Logan sister and her husband? I don’t think so and I hate to think of the aftermath of these sessions.

Hey, ya’ll! I apologize for not posting in quite some some, but never fear, Patti’s here and ‘ back posting.

First, let me explain why I’ve been gone. My energy levels basically bottomed out and I just wasn’t up to the task. Fortunately I have been feeling a lot better and then my computer fried! Oh what a sad situation that was <sigh>. I do have an older laptop (at least 10 years old) that was still running Windows2000. While I loved that O/S, most programs don’t support it any longer. Plus it was slow LOL.

My darling Larry got me a new laptop for Christmas. It’s an HP, runs Windows7, has 4 gigs of memory, etc., etc. I was quite pleased that Win7 is similar to Win2000 and there wasn’t a huge learning experience. Larry also got me an iPad and I have been having a blast with it. Okay, you can call me “spoiled rotten” now.

I decided, last night, that my New Year’s Resolution is to start posting again – but a tad bit differently. I’m going to concentrate on “my opinion” topics for my 3 soaps that I watch, DOOL, Y&R, and B&B. Some will be long posts, others short. For example, why does everyone still hate Carly and what’s up with “Saint Kayla” on Days. Brooke and Thomas, along with Taylor’s hypocrisy and the Hope/Liam/Oliver triangle that now has Amber in the mix. I’m actually missing Steffy on B&B.  Then we have nut-cake Sharon on Y&R along with Diane sleeping her way around town and we can’t forget psycho Daisy and Jana. That’s just a few topics off the top of my head.

I probably won’t be doing a lot of Spoilers, but I will let you know about Casting News and Late Breaking News. There are some days I might be posting a lot and other days nothing. It just depends on what’s going on. I will also be posting short thoughts on Twitter, so please follow me @myworldofsoaps.

Hope’s big night was set at the Forrester Mansion with Daddy Yankee and his crew hosting her graduation party and filmed their new video.

Most of the guests had masks and some of the girls had special sequined blued dresses – obviously not knowing who was who. Both Ridge and Oliver had identical Forrester jackets on and Brooke and Hope had on one of the blue dresses. Steffy was determined to ruin Hope’s night.

We have all heard that their was going to be mayhem at the party, with some surprising outcomes. I, personally figured that Hope would confuse the boyfriend and her father as they both had the same jackets on, and that the guys would mistake their love ones because of the dresses. We also knew that Steffy would do anything to ruin Hope’s big night.

Oliver saw “Hope” wearing her necklace and seduced her – the other gal saw Oliver and was thrilled with “Hope” said she loved him. They went off together and presumably made love. Oliver came back to the party and found Hope, who was wondering where he had been. Everyone was told to take off their masks and when the gal that wore Hope’s necklace revealed herself – it was Hope’s mother Brooke!!!!

Talk about a jaw dropping ending to the week! I’m sure that Brooke that she was with Ridge and that Oliver thought he was with Hope but…….

Is there more to this or does Steffy come into play? If it IS Brooke that Oliver had sex with – will this end up in another “surprise” pregnancy? After all, Brooke did sleep with her daughter’s husband, Deacon, and gave birth to Hope.

Oh me oh my!

Betty White, (ex-Ann on B&B) will be hosting Saturday Night Live on Saturday, May 8th!

Lorne Michaels, the producer, has recruited alums Tina Fay, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gastey and Maya Rudolph to pitch in for an all-star Mother’s Day Eve show, with White at the helm. On top of that, Jay-Z has been announced as the night’s musical guest.

If you can’t watch, make sure you set you VCR, DVR or Tivo so you can watch the fabulous show!

Jack Wagner, Ashley Jones, Brandon Beemer, Lesley-Anne Down

Bridget is at the hospital for a paternity test when Jackie comes in to make sure that she is okay, not knowing the real reason Bridget is there. Jackie comforts her, telling her how happy she is that Bridget and Nick are going to have a baby, and that Bridget has become like a daughter to her. Just then, the doctor comes in and says, “I have the results of your paternity test”, right in front of Jackie!

Jackie goes off on Bridget and demands to know who the other man is. Bridget finally admits that it’s Jackie’s husband, Owen, and that she’s going to tell Nick everything and beg for his forgiveness. Jackie says, “Actually, no. You will do no such thing.”

The duo waits for the results, which reveal that Owen is the father. Jackie decides that no one will know, not even Owen.

Will Bridget be able to keep the paternity test a secret? Will Aggie tell about the sex tape of Bridget and Owen?

John McCook

Eric and Donna’s already shaky marriage takes a few more hits this week. First, Taylor asks Eric not to bring Donna to her wedding to Whip. She thinks it will just add tension to her big day. Eric escorts Stephanie to the wedding, and this does not sit well with Donna.

At the wedding, Eric enjoys spending time with Stephanie, who’s lapping up the attention. Since Stephanie will be displaced when Whip moves in with Taylor, Eric has a suggestion. He invites Stephanie to stay at his guest house. A clueless (or should I say an insensitive, idiotic) Eric thinks it’s an arrangement that will work.

Donna doesn’t quite see it this way and is hurt and freaked out. Can this marriage survive?
